The story of "Tommy" in South Carolina

A family friend visiting our home left the patio gate unlatched, which went unnoticed for 24 hrs. The next day my daughter opened the door to the patio so Tommy could go in and out to enjoy the weather. Apparently Tommy went out the gate to explore and got lost. When I arrived home from work we looked for him until we were exhausted and hopeless. The next morning I posted a NKN alert and was amazed at the quick response. People immediately began sharing my lost dog info all over the internet and sent me messages of support and encouragement. I didn't realize until later in the day that these people were in my community! I spent all day driving or walking around looking and whistling for Tommy. I said many prayers for his return. Then I remembered the messages that were sent to me through NKN. Many others were also praying for Tommy's return. This strengthened my heart. After I got home I was donating money to a site in Rock Hill that finds and rehomes lost dogs. Then my son said Tommy was at the door. I got up quickly in disbelief. My son opened the door slowly, scared Tommy might run away again. Instead Tommy ran in and pounced us! I've never seen him so excited! He jumped, bounced, climbed up on my face and kissed me, chewed on my nose, ran in circles and then repeated it all. He was very hungry so I gave him a plate of baked chicken and a walk before doing a head to toe assessment. Although he was muddy, Tommy did not have even one scratch and all vital signs were stable! We are so happy to have him home! He hasn't left our laps and we haven't stopped holding him. I'm going to get a stronger gate clasp today. I can't thank you guys enough for your support, for spreading the word and the prayers. NKN helped bring me closer to my neighbors and community.
