We are dedicated to saving the lives of homeless abused and neglected felines.

We provide SAFE shelter, food and medical care to both Stray, Feral, and Owner Relinquished cats.

We focus on Rescue, Foster Care, and Veterinary Care for Felines. These Felines receive temporary homes by us until we can find through our Adoption efforts good safe stable forever homes.

We want to be a valuable resource to our community, as we believe that one person CAN make a difference in the life of an animal in need. So as an organization we utilize our strengths to be able to help more animals.

1. Feral Cat TNR Program

Many communities are embracing Trap, Neuter, Release programs (TNR) to improve animal welfare, reduce death rates, and meet obligations to public welfare.

2. High-Volume, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter

Low cost, high volume spay/neuter will quickly lead to fewer animals entering the shelter system, allowing more resources to be allocated toward saving lives.

3. Rescue Groups

An adoption or transfer to a rescue group frees up scarce cage and kennel space, reduces expenses for feeding, cleaning, killing, and improves a community's rate of lifesaving. In an environment of millions of dogs and cats killed in shelters annually, rare is the circumstance in which a rescue group should be denied an animal.

4. Foster Care

Volunteer foster care is crucial to No Kill. Without it, saving lives is compromised. It is a low cost, and often no cost, way of increasing a shelter's capacity, improving public relations, increasing a shelter's public image, rehabilitating sick and injured or behaviorally challenged animals, and saving lives.

5. Comprehensive Adoption Programs

Adoptions are vital to an agency's lifesaving mission. The quantity and quality of shelter adoptions is in shelter management's hands, making lifesaving a direct function of shelter policies and practice. In fact, studies show people get their animals from shelters only 20% of the time. If shelters better promoted their animals and had adoption programs responsive to the needs of the community, including public access hours for working people, offsite adoptions, adoption incentives, and effective marketing, they could increase the number of homes available and replace killing with adoptions. Contrary to conventional wisdom, shelters can adopt their way out of killing.

6. Pet Retention

While some of the reasons animals are surrendered to shelters are unavoidable, others can be prevented-but only if shelters are willing to work with people to help them solve their problems. Saving animals requires communities to develop innovative strategies for keeping people and their companion animals together. And the more a community sees its shelters as a place to turn for advice and assistance, the easier this job will be.

7. Medical and Behavior Programs

In order to meet its commitment to a lifesaving guarantee for all savable animals, shelters need to keep animals happy and healthy and keep animals moving through the system. To do this, shelters must put in place comprehensive vaccination, handling, cleaning, socialization, and care policies before animals get sick and rehabilitative efforts for those who come in sick, injured, unweaned, or traumatized.

8. Public Relations/Community Involvement

Increasing adoptions, maximizing donations, recruiting volunteers and partnering with community agencies comes down to one thing: increasing the shelter's exposure. And that means consistent marketing and public relations. Public relations and marketing are the foundation of all a shelter's activities and their success. To do all these things well, the shelter must be in the public eye.

9. Volunteers

Volunteers are a dedicated "army of compassion" and the backbone of a successful No Kill effort. There is never enough staff, never enough dollars to hire more staff, and always more needs than paid human resources. That is where volunteers come in and make the difference between success and failure and, for the animals, life and death.

10. Proactive Redemptions

One of the most overlooked areas for reducing killing in animal control shelters are lost animal reclaims. Sadly, besides having pet owners fill out a lost pet report, very little effort is made in this area of shelter operations. This is unfortunate because doing so-primarily shifting from passive to a more proactive approach-has proven to have a significant impact on lifesaving and allow shelters to return a large percentage of lost animals to their families.

11. A Compassionate Director

The final element of the No Kill equation is the most important of all, without which all other elements are thwarted-a hard working, compassionate animal control or shelter director not content to regurgitate tired cliches or hide behind the myth of "too many animals, not enough homes." Unfortunately, this one is also oftentimes the hardest one to demand and find.

I am military vet, community activist, police helper and someone that fights to save kids kittens and puppies. I can assure everyone that Heavens Safe Haven and CJ are 100% reputable and reliable and have 100% integrity in what she says and does. Shame on all persons that would undermine a "benefit" to the community and america and the poor animals that are forgotten and abused by evil people and critics.

For the many counts against her at this time, and the list grows daily she is looking at felony Cyber Stalking Harrassment, defamation of character charges and also posting MANY peoples personal information online without their consent, we know this because our lawyer is interviewing all of them at this time. There are plans to launch a "Class Action" law suit against her, and other "Criminal" charges. This IS a reputable rescue group and I have the VALID DOCUMENTATION to back that up !!! The person on here that keeps bashing this rescue group used to be a foster for this group and was not taking care of the cats properly, which is why HSH had to contact The GA Dept of Ag and post a complaint. Also by law, no Vet Tech, RVT, Doctor, Nurse, Etc .. NEEDS to post their license anywhere on the internet. The person stating that they NEED to is not up to date on the laws.

I was reading Cj's FREE cat care tips page the other day and also her guestbook on her website, there are tons of people that have signed her guestbook thanking her and telling her how if it was not for her FREE medical advice their kittys would have died!! These are other rescue groups, humane society workers, and regular pet owners, Cj does not have to post such valuable life saving info but she does it to help people and to save lives, what a generous unselfish person Cj is to do this!! I really dont know of any other cat rescue website out there that gives free medical advice to help people and their animals. Kudo's to YOU Cj for all your lifesaving rescue work and heartfelt help that you provide God will bless you so much for your efforts of kindness that you exude!

I have been to Cjs home and adopted two cats from her, she did a home check on me before allowing me to adopt them, I also had to give her all my current veterinarian information. Her home is spotless and all the cats are very well cared for, I went into every room of her home so that I could choose which kitties I wanted, she was very nice and friendly she even works at a Vet hosp I found out too. I gave her a huge donation as well to help her with her cat rescue efforts. I am very glad there are people like her that care so much about animal welfare, if it where not for her and people like her my adopted fur kids Boots, and Freshca would have died in some horrible kill shelter in Ohio where Cj rescued them from. Thank You Cj for all you do for the cats!

You can challenge the VTNE without having gone to any vet tech college or have taken any vet tech course and if you pass the VTNE then you become a vet tech. Also if you graduate from a vet tech college and or obtain your Assoc Degree you become Certified because your Assoc Degree is Certified. To get a state license in any state is a different matter all together and has nothing to do with certification.

The truth of the matter is that once you pass the Vet Tech College course that you take and you graduate and have your Assoc of Veterinary Technology Degree then you have a CERTIFIED Degree. After that its up to you to take the VTNE or not, although most colleges automatically will line you up to take the VTNE but some do not.So then its up to you to pay to become licensed in the state you live in or not. You can however work as a Vet Tech in any state without having a license in that state as long as you are under the supervision of a Veterinarian. And of course if you already hold a Assoc Degree in Veterinary Technology.

In Laymans Terms; If you pass a accredited college Assoc Degree in Veterinary Technology then that makes you a Certified Vet Tech. In order to sit for the VTNE = Veterinary Technician National Exam you have to have passed and graduated from a accredited college that teaches Veterinary Technology. Unless you CHALLENGE this exam which you can. Passing the VTNE allows you to become licensed in any state where you live. You have to pay for and apply for that license though, after you prove you have passed the VTNE. Because you cannot obtain a Vet Tech license unless you have passed the VTNE. However, passing the VTNE does not make you certified. Graduating from an accredited college and obtaining your Veterinary Technology Degree is what makes you Certified.

HSH Cat Rescue is a NOn Profit Org they are not a 501c3 there is a difference. A Non Profit means a NOT for profit whereby any monetary "gifts" goes directly to help the animals. A 501c3 means your org is a registered non profit. HSH is not registered because they are not a 501c3 and they never infact claimed to be a 501c3. You dont have to be a 501c3 to save lives or to do cat rescue. Many people seem to think that a rescue group is not reputable if they are not a 501c3. However One has nothing to do with the other, becoming a 501c3 does not make a rescue group a reputable one just as not being a 501c3 does not make a rescue group non reputable. The TERM 501c3 is simply the name of the TAX FORM a group is under. Nothing more and Nothing less, it in no way denotes or implies a good, bad, or indifferent animal rescue group, humane society, or animal shelter.

To state that you are a Non Profit group is not the same as stating that you are a 501c3 many people think this is the same thing but it is not. When a group states that they are a non profit then they are a not for profit. And that is all. From Jerry CPA

You are so right about the 501c3 status, also a person can except "gifts" without being a 501c3 legally. You are also right about the Tax Form (501c3) making a group reputable or not, as it does not! Many rescue groups and even humane societies have been shut down that where 501c3 registered non profits. And all rescue groups are non profits or not for profit groups anyway, as they only use any money they get towards helping the animals. But MOST rescue groups are not 501c3 registered non profits because its very expensive and time consuming to become a 501c3 I know because our group looked into doing this and we where told it cost 4K just to become a 501c3 and our group cannot afford it as most groups cant afford it. But we can still legally do our dog rescue without being a 501c3 and we can except public help in the form of "gifts" which also helps us a great deal.

First of all, the person stating that the RVT was never a RVT does not even have the name right, notice that he or she puts grator/gretor so since they dont know the EXACT name how can they claim that the RVT has never been a RVT? Obviously they are making things up as they go along trying to get a rise out of someone. I agree with the rest of you on here that the Vet Tech and the RVT do not need to post anywhere on the web their credentials. They do not need to prove who they are to anyone and especially not to some psycho that wants their information.

Just to inform people on here, One can be a Vet Tech working at a clinic or animal hospital and not be certified or licensed. The clinic where I take my dog to has two Vet Techs working there, neither of them are certified Vet Techs, but my vet trained them a long time ago himself and they do everything that a vet tech does there, they are still vet techs in every sense of the word.

Just for fun I checked several Vet Hospital websites and NONE of them have on their entire website where the Veterinarian or Vet Techs or Vet Assistants have their license numbers or certifications listed. I would think that anyone that is a professional would certainly not post these things on the open internet due to hackers Etc ... Posting such things would be equivalent to posting your bank acct information for all the world to see. No normal person would do this its that simple! I have a drivers license, should I post it on the world wide web? Certainly not, so why should any Vet Tech, RVT, Veterinarian post their licenses ??? The idiot that states that Cj or anyone else must do so needs to grow a brain since they obviously dont have one !

This Cat Rescue is Reputable and the Vet Tech and RVT that helps run it are BOTH fully Certified (I checked) However, no one has to post anywhere on the internet or in any public forum WHERE or IF they are licensed. This is the law, Whoever on here that keeps posting that Cj or RVT Grator MUST or HAS TO post their certification is grossly misinformed on legal aspects. This cat rescue will have full legal recourse if anyone continues to harrass them in ANY public forum such as this one.

Miss Grator is a licensed RVT the director is also a licensed Vet Tech, the person that keeps bashing this rescue group on here is harrassing and stalking this group, and has been doing it for some time now, if they persist on here criminal charges will be filed as we know WHO they are and WHERE to find them. Internet Stalking and harrasment IS illegal.

This group is now located in Ohio and has not had time to change EVERY website they are listed on with their new location.

Again, she is not licensed or certified in the state of Florida, Tennesse, or Ohio. If she is, she needs to post where she is licensed and/or certified. If we are speaking of Ms. Grater/Grator, her nursing license has expired. She has never been a RVT.

This is not a rescue. There is not an address or phone number to verify this is a valid rescue. Owner claims she is a cross poster, but has not claimed she has rescued any animals recently.

The PO Box is used as their address as with most rescue groups, and email is used in place of a phone number also as with most rescue groups. Also just because a rescue group has not rescued any animals lately is not un common at all, as alot of them are full and do not take on more animals then they can properly care for.
