This big handsome man is Rusty, a 5 year old hound mix. He has a booming voice that carries through the building, and he sure likes to talk!! He is a very well-behaved boy, and walks amazing on a leash. When he is not in his own territory, Rusty is a sweet boy, and all loving. He does great at the vet, and prefers to have no barriers while in the car so he can be close to you. He was surrendered to the shelter due to some behavioral issues- he can be protective and territorial, and has acted out towards delivery drivers and strangers while in his domain. If you're a homebody who prefers alone time, or lives alone and wants someone to alert you when anyone arrives, Rusty is your guy! Those big blood house ears, and his nose can alert you to anything! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Rusty was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Rusty’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Rusty’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Rusty’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
