About this Cat
Sam and his sister, Lena, were dumped off in the middle of the road in front of a volunteer's farm. They were sitting in the middle of the road, confused & scared. The volunteer was able to pick them up and bring them to the shelter. Sam has been in our shelter ever since, even surviving FIP! He has become an amazing adult cat, and a loving and consistent friend in our shelter. Sam is as handsome as he is sweet. He seems to attract a little bullying from some of the more outgoing or aggressive cats in our shelter. We are not sure why this is or if it is just Sam being "overly sensitive". Either way, we love him so much and we would love for him to finally have the opportunity to have a home and family of his own. Sam is a survivor! This kitty is an FIP Survivor. Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) was once 100% fatal, but now thanks to an amazing group of researchers this is changing. In 2023 about 80% of cats diagnosed and treated are being saved. In Summer of 2024 the drug used to treat this disease became legal for USA vets to prescribe. Cats that survive FIP do not require any special medications, or food, just lots of love and attention. It is important that they continue regular annual checkups to monitor their health.
