About this Dog
Ear tips were wounded and suffered constant fly strikes. After some good TLC, his ears are improving, and with his fur growing back the old wounds will hardly be noticeable. His teeth are worn down, some to the root. The vet is not concerned at the moment as the condition looks to be long-standing due to being chained and trying to chew the metal. Mando was very approachable and friendly upon meeting. He rode well in the jeep while buckled, he is crate-trained and will bark if he is hungry and it is time to eat. He will sleep all night in Kennel with no complaints. He LOVES his stuffed animals and likes to collect them all in one place. He is not sound reactive and allows the handling of paws, ears, and mouth. Willing to meet male strangers with caution. Must be a slow introduction as he was severely abused by a male prior. Does well with my 12-year-old son. However, he is fearful of children who do not know proper dog manners or jump and scream too close to him. He has amazing intuition for people. He will do best with a family/owner who wants to be active with him. He loves to play with his foster husky sister and two other mal foster sisters. He walked well with a young male neighbor pup but did not do well with an older male. A female companion would be ideal. He will need reminders to not mark in the house, we have been working on this and success is in sight. He seems that he wants nothing more than to cuddle and be your BFF. We have been working on exposure training. In public places with many people, he is fearful, he will need continued exposure training to allow him to be a confident and non-reactive dog in public places. Raised hands and aggressive behavior in humans he does not know can be a trigger for him to shrink away. Continued training will be best. Mando is a very handsome dog, strong, athletic, eager to please, and has a great heart.
