About this Dog
My name is Victoria Duncan, and I’m reaching out with hope and urgency. My cousin (visiting from California) and I recently rescued a dog in the middle of nowhere near Oceana, West Virginia. She was standing in the road and limping badly—clearly hurt and at serious risk of being hit by a car. We couldn’t leave her behind. We took her to a vet in Beckley, where she was diagnosed with Lyme disease and a dislocated hip. Based on her teeth, the vet estimated that she’s only about one to two years old. We were able to pay for her antibiotics to treat the Lyme disease, pain medication, and tick prevention. She’s now tick-free and has been bathed and cared for several times. She’s already looking and feeling so much better. However, her hip is still a major concern. The vet explained that while they could attempt a simpler surgery to pop it back into place, they aren’t hopeful it will be successful since it seems the hip has been out of socket for a long time and she’s learned to walk on it. The other option—a more involved surgical procedure—is much more expensive. If a rescue or foster is able to take her in, we are willing to help fund or even fully cover the cost of the surgery if that’s what it takes. She truly deserves a second chance. She is incredibly sweet and mellow. She’s been around people, other dogs, cats, and even ducks, and has shown zero signs of aggression. She just wants love and gentle care. Based on her appearance, we believe she may be a German Shepherd and Husky mix — she’s absolutely beautiful, with a calm spirit that melts hearts. And she’s crazy smart. We’ve already taught her how to sit, shake, and come to us on call. We would love to keep her ourselves, but my cousin is heading back to college in California, and I’m moving to Huntington for school. Unfortunately, no one in our family is able to take her, and we are heartbroken. We’re trying to do everything we can to make sure she ends up somewhere safe, cared for, and loved. If there is any way you can help—through placement, fostering, or connecting us with a rescue able to take her in—we would be incredibly grateful. I can provide photos, videos, and all her vet records upon request. Thank you for your time, Victoria.

Adopt Honey and Receive Honey's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Honey's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$7 is Honey's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Honey, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Honey's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Honey was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Honey’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Honey’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Honey’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
