About this Dog
HAIL MARY REHOMING REQUEST !! Experienced Home Needed for Sweet Senior Yumi scheduled for euthanasia Thurs Aug 20, 2026 Gig Harbor, WA Meet Yumi, a cute, lovable 12-year-old, 30-pound terrier mix looking for a very special person to give her a peaceful place to spend her golden years. Yumi needs a calm, patient, experienced adopter who understands that senior dogs can come with quirks, boundaries, and extra care needs. Once Yumi trusts you, she is incredibly affectionate. She greets her favorite people with excitement when they come home and loves belly rubs, butt scratches, head pets, and curling up nearby. She enjoys sniffing walks on quiet trails, squeaky toys, dog parks (from a comfortable distance), and searching for hidden treats. Greenies, chicken, and dog snacks are among her favorite rewards. Yumi isn't the right dog for every home—and that's okay. We are committed to finding the right match rather than simply finding her a home. Yumi's Ideal Home Yumi would thrive with: • An experienced dog owner, especially someone familiar with reactive or senior dogs • A quiet, stable, adult-only household • No other dogs and no young children • Someone who is patient, willing to earn her trust, and understands that management is part of loving some dogs • A secure yard and a predictable daily routine that includes walks along trails and going to dog parks Things Her New Family Should Know We believe in being completely honest so Yumi can be successful in her next home. Yumi is reactive toward strangers and other dogs and barks intensely at unfamiliar people and noises at the door. She resource guards people and high-value foods such as chicken and bones, and because of this she must be carefully managed around these items. She also experiences separation anxiety when left alone. She wears a harness for walks, needs a muzzle for veterinary visits and grooming, and nail trims currently require multiple people to perform safely. Her adopter should be comfortable continuing her behavioral management and working with a trainer if needed. Health Yumi is spayed and current on vaccinations, including D2PP, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and Rabies. She has some skin allergies, is believed to be allergic to flea bites, and recently received treatment for an eye infection and allergies. We Want Her Next Home to Be Her Last Yumi has so much love to give the person who understands her. She deserves a home where her quirks are respected, her boundaries are honored, and she can enjoy her senior years feeling safe and loved.

Adopt Yumi and Receive Yumi's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Yumi's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.

How will Yumi receive the contribution?
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Yumi, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Yumi's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Yumi was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Yumi’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
What happens to unclaimed funds?
We want the Yumi’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Yumi’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
