GINGERSNAP NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Gingersnap Best Guess for Breed: Terrier and lab mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of February 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 40 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area boarding partnerSpecial Adoption Considerations: In certain home settings -- where the environment might be loud or more intense -- this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give her confidence. All about Gingersnap: Gingersnap was found as a stray along with her buddy Gilligan in South Carolina by someone who reached out to Lucky Dog. She's a pretty great dog. Her foster absolutely loves her. See what she has to say: "Gingersnap is such a wonderful dog! She's your all-around young, happy, super sweet and loving girl. And she's very smart and quick to adjust. When she got here, she didn't know what to make of city streets and was nervous. But within a few days, she had gotten used to walking on leash and was eagerly exploring and sniffing everything. Gingersnap is well-mannered in the home. She goes into the crate quickly and willingly, and is quiet when in there. Chews only on authorized items. Hasn't tried to counter surf. Entertains herself well with stuffies and chew toys or curls up and chills while I work. She's good in the car too! She is submissive to other dogs. Is very sweet with my 8-lb and 19-lb dogs, and quickly learned to ramp her strength way down to match my 8-lb boy. She loves meeting and playing with other dogs in doggie daycare too. What I enjoy most about her is how utterly sweet and loving she is. She loves loves snuggles. When I sit, she rushes to me and simply melts into me. She is such a human oriented, loving pup - and so eager to learn and please. Gingersnap has so much love to give, so much she wants to do and see in life. She'll be a great companion. Her forever family and she will be very lucky to have each other." Special adoption considerations: Gingersnap is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Adopt Gingersnap and Receive Gingersnap's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Gingersnap's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Gingersnap's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Gingersnap, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Gingersnap's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Gingersnap was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Gingersnap’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Gingersnap’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Gingersnap’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
