GILLIGAN NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Gilligan and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (7/12) from 12-2 pm at the Petco in Bailey's Crossroads (5825 Leesburg Pike, Bailey's Crossroads, VA 22041)! Name: Gilligan Best Guess for Breed: Terrier and lab mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of February 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 47 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! Gilligan likes to play with cats and may chase, so would be best with dog-savvy cats! Currently Living at: DC area boarding Gilligan is Looking For: This sweetie has been lucky once already! He and his buddy Gingersnap were stray and found by the right person - someone who took them in and committed to getting them into their own homes. They both were heartworm positive, and we at Lucky Dog took care of their treatment. He's done with treatment and is now eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. He'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. And quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those. But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Are you going to be the lucky recipient - and Gilligan's second lucky break too? What My DC Area Foster Says About Me: He is sweet, affectionate, and playful! He loves belly rubs, playing fetch, and long sniffy walks. He walks great on a leash though does get excited when we see another dog, and he's also been great about going outside when needed (no accidents so far!). He's working on his crate training, and will settle down after some indignant yipping and whining. He's a bit shy when meeting new people but when he warms up to you he'll be your new best friend! Special adoption considerations: Gilligan is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Adopt Gilligan and Receive Gilligan's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Gilligan's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Gilligan's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Gilligan, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Gilligan's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Gilligan was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Gilligan’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Gilligan’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Gilligan’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
