Name: Cooper Best Guess for Breed: Coonhound mix Best Guess for Age: 9 years as of July 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 87 lbs Gets Along With: Cooper has lived with other dogs, cats, and kids and done wonderfully with them all! Currently Living at: DC area home All about Cooper: Cooper came into our care back in 2017 and was adopted out at that time. Over the past eight years, he has been in a loving home. He raised the children in that home - they grew up and are in college now. He lived with cats and was great with them. He is wonderful with other dogs and enjoys interacting with them - he has gone to doggie daycare. He had free roam in the home - when he first arrived in the home, he was crated and was good in the crate. But they stopped using a crate with him long ago. Still, his past experience with crates was positive. Through no fault of anyone at all - he now needs a new home. He's in his senior years - medium energy, still eager for his walks, and great at chilling in the home. And he has all those years of loving and being loved - he knows what it's like to be a cherished family pet, and that is what he wants most of all now. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Cooper was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Cooper’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Cooper’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Cooper’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
