COWBOY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Cowboy Best Guess for Breed: Beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of July 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 20 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We have tested Cowboy with some of the cats at the shelter, and he/she did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Cowboy could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack! Currently Living at: A DC area foster home! We will update this when he has been in the foster home for a few days. Cowboy is Looking For: His forever home! He's eager to have his own humans for sniffy walks (that beagle nose!) and all the adventures they can dream up. More than that - he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he's got a lot of love in that little body to offer his people - and loyal companionship for all his days. He's a great size, a great all-around size. Come meet him! What My Foster Says About Me: Cowboy is the sweetest, gentlest, kind and affectionate, calm little guy! First few days in the foster home have gone well - he has been very calm. Has done well with meeting kids, dogs, cats, and other people and really likes to play with other dogs at the dog park and in the home. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Cowboy was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Cowboy’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Cowboy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Cowboy’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
