About this Dog
BISON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Bison and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Bison Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of January 2024 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 50 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen Bison with kids, but he can be tested. We have tested him with some of the cats at the shelter, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that he could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack! Currently Living at: DC foster! Check out this video of Bison: https://youtu.be/lyWTPRQG4gI Special adoption considerations: Bison is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process. About Bison: Bison is ready to be part of your adventure! Bison is always charging ahead looking for the latest exciting thing whether it’s human or canine. He enjoys walks, especially in cooler weather when he can go longer, and generally walks well with a loose leash. He loves rough and tumble play with doggy playmates, and he’s very excited to make new friends when he’s out and about. Sometimes he’s a little too excited but he’s responsive to cues, eager to please, and motivated by treats! He can entertain himself playing with his toys, tossing them in the air just to make sure they keep moving! At home, Bison is all about adoring his humans. He follows people around the house to make sure he doesn’t miss anything. He has a favorite spot where he can sit on a big chair, chin propped up, watching the kitchen when that is where the action is. He got up on the couch and sat with his fosters’ grandchildren, ages 7 and 11, when they visited, and he loves snuggles! He’s a good boy–he generally knows which items are his and which aren’t, and when he needs to go, he will go to the foster’s patio door or look at them and bark! Bison has so many smiles, so many adoring gazes and tail wags, so much energy and zest for life, so much love and loyal companionship to give his forever family. He’s a goofy and amiable companion, enjoying car rides, snuggling on the couch, and generally being a part of whatever you’re doing. Could Bison be your trusty life companion? Foster Update 1/24: Bison is a lot calmer at home. He loves to play and has been enjoying the snow. Loves balls and tough chew toys. We’ve been working on helping him to relax more around his triggers. Meeting and seeing other dogs outside and on walks is still a work in progress for him. He responds well with positive reinforcement and is very food motivated. His recall is getting better under low distraction. He also now can sit and wait to be released to eat his food. He loves to snuggle and likes to sleep on the bed under the covers! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog. Adopt Bison and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Bison's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Bison's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Bison, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Bison's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Bison was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Bison’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
"The fun and friendly internet currency."
Dogecoin sets itself apart from other digital currencies with an amazing, vibrant community made up of friendly folks just like you. Dogecoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency that enables you to easily send money online.
Learn more about it on youtube or at dogecoin.com.
We want the Bison’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Bison’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
