About this Dog
HEMMY - 1-5 years old, 45 pounds, nervous at first As a stray, Hemmy has been nervous in the kennel. He will, however, warm up to you. It just might take a little time. Out in the yard, he did his own thing, sniffed here and there, checked out the fence, investigated everything he found. He also looked like he was always looking for a way out. He ran to the gate and started barking after a short time. You have to give some of these boys and girls a break when it comes to these behaviors. They can be scared or hesitant about everything going on around them. I gave him some space and allowed him to walk around on his own. When it was time to go, I was able to put him back in his kennel without issue. Hemmy is a super pretty (sorry, I know boys don't like to be called 'pretty' LOL) coloring with his orange and brown brindle fur. The white around his neck and on his face is bright and distinct. His eyes are apprehensive. Time, patience, space. All will help Hemmy settle in a new home with a new family and a new routine. Speaking of routine, we don't know how house trained he is or isn't so understanding where he's coming from will certainly help a lot. We were able to test Hemmy with other specially selected dogs in our shelter playgroup. He seemed very dog social and enjoyed the running and chasing with others. He did not engage in rough play. Bring any resident dog in for a meet and greet and let’s see if they can get along. *Please be ready, willing and able to supervise. Hemmy is currently in a back kennel so if you come in to meet him and don't see him, please just ask.

We want the 180970 Hemmy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, 180970 Hemmy’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
