About this Dog
UPDATE, June 27. Bobby is loving his foster home! He has other dogs to play with and is just the happiest boy around. True, he is a dog's dog, and prefers dogs to humans, but we feel there is a home out there that will be a perfect fit for him. He is crate trained, housetrained, and his foster mom says he must have a fenced yard or if he takes off you will never get your hands on him. He is only a baby, so still has plenty of time to learn, but we are loving all the changes in his life and feel good things will happen in his future. Do you have a fun dog that would be willing to serve as Bobby's mentor? Please consider him! Long ago..... We reached a turning point today with Bobby. After spending a month tossing him treats, earning his trust, plumping him up, it was time. Today we put a leash around Bobby’s neck and told him it was time to see the world. Did he like it? Initially no, he did not. He gator rolled, he chewed at the leash, he tried to back out, but finally, he resigned himself. He was going to learn to walk on a leash! He was dealing with someone as stubborn as he was. When he got out onto the grass, he looked like a new dog! You would’ve thought I was killing him if you had heard him yowling at the injustice of it all. We repeated the exercise a few times, and within a short time, Bobby accepted stroking, ear scratching, and removal of his leash without snarkiness. A new world awaits him! We can only imagine what Bobby's beginnings must have been, because he is so incredibly distrustful and unsure of humans! He is learning that yummy treats come his way because of us, but that is all he can vouch for thus far. Whew! He is one challenging boy!
