Senior hound Alexander settled into his foster home quite easily, enjoying extra meals and extra rations daily so that he is now pumped and plumped up and has managed to make his mark in the world by becoming even more laid-back and happy. Alexander is probably about 10 years old, and we think he’s had a pretty fulfilling life, although it most likely was not been an easy one. Hunting dogs enjoy their freedom, but unfortunately not all get the care that they need to live long lives without health issues. Alexander was heartworm positive as well as suffering from two tickborne diseases when he came to us; a year of “slowkill ” heartworm treatment has left him healthy and heartworm-free, and he has been given a clean bill of health. He enjoys being with a pack of other dogs, including females and males, hounds and a beagle . His foster mom says he is happy and appreciative of everything she gives him. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. After we have verified the adoption, Alexander: Not At the Shelter (Wendy)’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Alexander: Not At the Shelter (Wendy)’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Alexander: Not At the Shelter (Wendy)’s balance will remain in our general fund.
