About this Dog
Personality: Jumpy is a sweetheart to his core, who despite his rough start to life has a lot of trust and love for the people and dogs around him. He seems to be the happiest pressed to my side (pink blanket photos), even more than he is on a walk, or eating a peanut butter kong. His name definitely comes from his enthusiasm when greeting people, which while adorable, is a train-able thing that we are working on with him and he is showing progress with. Ironically, he has not shown any interest in actually jumping on or over anything - even a counter with steak on it, or the low fences surrounding the neighborhood planters! Jumpy does a lot of adorable head tilts, especially while watching the "TV for dogs" youtube channel - specifically the birds and squirrels one, though he has shown no interest in chasing them while out on walks - we tested this. He mainly just wants to sit in your lap and be where you are. Jumpy is extremely underweight and has a couple spots where his hair is thinning, likely due to previous stress and malnourishment. With his happy go lucky personality, he doesn't even seem to notice anything is wrong, though he does seem to realize that life is uphill from here. This poor skin condition is healing with time and proper nutrition, and NOT contagious for dogs or humans - and he is still plenty soft for those cuddles he loves so much. Energy Level and Activity: While he has young dog zoomies at playtime, he has just as much of an affinity for naptime on the couch and lazy cuddles. When I am WFH, cooking, or doing anything that is not to do with him, he likes to be able to see me, but won't follow me around - typically will just lay on the armchair and stare at me with those big eyes (green chair picture - a prime example). If he gets the zoomies while I am busy, he has shown that he's able to play alone and self-soothe with a bone or a stuffy. He can pull a bit on the leash and likes to play tug-of-war to sort of walk himself with it. While again, adorable - his leash manners are something he is being trained on and quickly improving on. When let loose in a fenced yard, Jumpy sniffed and explored but always stayed in range and came when called, an impressive sign for his future recall ability. Other Dogs: Jumpy excels with dogs, isn’t too jumpy (haha) or forward but clearly would love to play with other playful pups. When he sees other pets on walks he definitely takes note, but has not shown any signs of overexcitement, overstimulation, or leash reactivity. In the home: He has shown to be 99% (if not fully able to guarantee) housebroken with 0 potty incidents or marking in the home, including periods of more than 4 hours, and 8+ overnight. He generally goes immediately once he is outside, with a preference for mulch/grass, meaning if a quick walk is all that is possible, he will make it work! He is comfortable in his crate after a few minutes settling in, and seems to be fine with sleeping in if needed - he has never woke us up crying or anything like that. I live in a small, busy apartment downtown, and he does not react to any neighbor, hallway, or street noise, nor does he bark or whine while we are gone and he's in his crate. I have not left him alone while out of the crate, but he has not shown any interest in my plants, or any destructive tendencies to furniture or toys while supervised. His stuffed animals don't show a single tooth mark! He is not much of a beggar for food but is certainly not a picky eater and would likely be fine with most kibbles. He is currently eating the Hill's adult dog mix, and I give him some chicken and rice to top it while we nurse him back to a healthy weight. He also seemingly does not shed a significant amount! If you’re looking for an easy-going pup to play and be a companion to a dog in your home, he would be a great addition! For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Jumpy *FEE WAIVED* was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Jumpy *FEE WAIVED*’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Jumpy *FEE WAIVED*’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Jumpy *FEE WAIVED*’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
