Meet Hickory, a handsome white and gray, short-haired 6 year old lovebug. He came to us years ago with his mom, Constance and his brother, Hunter on the Freedom Ride from a high-kill shelter when their time had run out. The kill shelter told us about this little family because they were so sweet and gentle and they were worried they would not make it out. Sadly, AFTER 4 YEARS in foster care, Hickory is STILL with us. We don't understand why and poor Hickory is beginning to give up hope of ever finding his family and his forever home. He is a sweet and gentle soul and deserves a family who loves and cares about him. Hickory is a quiet, unassuming cat and is still playful. He is loving, likes to be held, and comes to you for affection.. He loves a quiet window where he can look out at wildlife or what is happening in the world. He is shy at first but warms up within a day or two and gets along well with other cats, but prefers a loving human to sit and watch t.v. with - a Hallmark movie or sports, he is not picky.Hickory is neutered, received FVRCP and Rabies vaccines, combo tested negative, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration - you won't need to pay to renew every year, we've done it for you! For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Hickory was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Hickory’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Hickory’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Hickory’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
