About this Dog
Are you looking for a dog with the markings, stealth, and sweet friendliness of a Rottweiler, but will always look like a lanky teenager with unkempt hair? If you said yes then Diesel is your boy! A mix of Rottweiler and something that looks like a retriever and runs like an antelope, he has the full black and orange of a "pure" Rottie but a slender build and awkward gait. This sweetie has a gentle temperament and soft touch, tending to hold and lick toys rather than destroy them. He came into SSRR underweight but is now in good general health. As he has been receiving proper nutrition, he is getting back to being a dog. His morning "zoomies" reveal the energy of a puppy despite being four years old. Diesel is currently fostered in a home with a senior Rottweiler, four cats, and two human adults. He enjoys all of their company and prefers to be near one or more of the other animals most of the time. Though food motivated, Diesel does NOT exhibit prey-drive. Even when his antics have annoyed the other animals, he does not escalate. Diesel has met more people and children, socializing in and out of his foster space, and has responded with a consistently friendly, loving nature. Diesel will likely do best with other animals and full time humans to keep company. He is responding well to basic obedience training and leash walking. He has selective hearing unless there is food involved, in which case he is laser focused — on the food. He walks happily on a leash with one handler for two dogs. He does not stay in the "proper nose to seam" "heel" position while walking, but he is also not as strong a puller as full-bred Rottweilers tend to be. Diesel has exactly three problems. First, he is a ninja. Completely silent, even when wearing a jangly collar, Diesel will magically appear wherever he wants to be. Second, he secretly knows that everything in your hands is really for him, even when what's in your hands is nothing. He wants to sniff and lick your palms clean even if you just washed them. He is highly food motivated. He is getting better about leaving counters alone, but be prepared to make adjustments and teach him what surfaces are not for him, because he will hunt out any “snacks” he can reach with his nearly 6 foot reach standing on his hind legs. Third, he needs a loving permanent home. If you want a friendly companion, pet, that will adapt and get along with your whole family, Diesel is one of the sweetest fur babies you will find. Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . You will be asked to acknowledge receipt of these requirements, verify that you have read them and that you will follow them.

Adopt Diesel and Receive Diesel's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Diesel's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Diesel's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Diesel, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Diesel's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Diesel was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Diesel’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Diesel’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Diesel’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
