About this Dog
Meet Diesel! This handsome Lab was surrendered to the rescue after a house fire displaced his previous owners. He spent more than a year in limbo with family friends before they moved into a new home that doesn’t allow pets, so now, Diesel is looking for a fresh start with a loving, stable family. He’s both dog and people-friendly, and we’re committed to helping him find the forever home he truly deserves. Diesel is currently being fostered by Lou and Scotty, along with their two large German Shepherds, Knox and Dozer. He integrated into the pack with ease, quickly forming a playful bond with Knox and showing sweet respect toward senior Dozer. While Diesel was a bit nervous at first (understandably so after another major life change), he has adjusted beautifully and is thriving in his foster home. Lou describes Diesel as a classic, happy-go-lucky Lab. He adores playing fetch, carrying his ball around the yard, and showing off his impressive toy collection. He often brings toys outside with him and has a blast entertaining himself. Diesel has a medium energy level - he loves to play, but also knows how to wind down. All you need to do is say “Diesel, couch,” and he’ll hop right up beside you to relax. Diesel is housetrained and crate trained. He’s not always thrilled to go into his crate (especially if there’s fun happening elsewhere), but he’s crated when left alone during the day. Lou gives him free roam at night, and he usually sleeps on the couch with the rest of the pack. Lou says Diesel has wonderful house manners and never chews on anything that isn’t one of his toys. He knows what’s his. Though he gets along great with other dogs, Diesel is very people-oriented and prefers to be near his person. He’ll often leave the other dogs to hang out quietly with Lou in her office. While he’d enjoy being part of a pack, he’d also be happy as an only dog. He’s a gentle, submissive pup overall. Diesel recently met one of Lou’s outdoor cats and showed initial indifference. After a cautious sniff and a warning hiss from the cat, Diesel respectfully backed off, so he may be cat-friendly with proper introductions. To help build his confidence, Lou has been taking Diesel on outings to pet stores. His first visit revealed that he was nervous in new environments and unsure around strangers. But on a return trip, Diesel made great progress. Lou shared: "Diesel is an excellent car rider!!! We went to Pet Supermarket and Diesel did so much better! I figured out it's the big doors opening/closing that he's afraid of!!!!! At this pet store, you have to pull the doors open; they are not automatic. Diesel had his tail tucked at first when we entered, but we went over and looked at all the fish in the tank, and he just absolutely loved that! Then we walked around and looked at all the different dog toys they had. While walking around looking at all the toys, one of the workers greeted us, and I told him that we were seeing how Diesel was doing on his second outing because the last time he was scared. This guy is so nice, we just stood there and talked, and as we were talking, Diesel went right up to him, sniffed him, let him give him some pets, and then gave him some kisses. Then there were maybe 10 different people in the store shopping, and Diesel met 3 different adults, 2 women, and 1 man & a boy about 8-10 years old. He let everyone pet him! He did so well!" Diesel is a sweet, loyal, and affectionate pup who’s ready to begin his next chapter. 100% of Diesel's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Diesel.
Adopt Diesel and Receive Diesel's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Diesel's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Diesel's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Diesel, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Diesel's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Diesel was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Diesel’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Diesel’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Diesel’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
