About this Dog
Meet Scout! This sweet boy was abandoned by someone in a Good Samaritan’s backyard. The family woke up one morning and found him there. They took him in and started looking for his family to no avail, but quickly discovered what a sweet boy he is. He has wonderful house manners, rides great in the car, and was an instant hit with their three dogs and older kids. When no one responded to claim him, they contacted Worthy Dog for help. Scout is currently being fostered in a home with several other dogs, and he fits right in as part of the pack. This well-mannered boy is crate-trained, house-trained, and has never had an accident in his foster home. Although he’s comfortable in a crate, Scout quickly earned his foster mom’s trust to have free roam of the house, and he’s proven to be a perfect gentleman. What a good boy! We learned that Scout is a total love bug with his core people and does best in a calm adult home. He is the perfect medium-sized pup with just the right amount of energy. He’s active and ready for walks or adventures when you are, but equally happy to curl up next to you on the couch as a champion snuggler. Scout is a social butterfly who meets new people and other dogs with ease. He’s a pro at car rides, making him the perfect sidekick for life’s adventures. We checked in with Scout’s foster mom for an update: ****** “Scout is such a happy, loving dog. He hit it off with my dogs right from the start, and they love chasing squirrels in the yard together. Scout is a fan of toys and has a blast playing fetch. He’s full of energy during playtime, often getting the zoomies and exuding pure joy. But when it’s just us, Scout is calm, relaxed, and perfectly content to enjoy some cozy couch time. I would say Scout’s favorite thing is snuggling with his human, followed by food. The closer he is to me, the happier he is. He loves to sit beside me, but would sit in my lap always if I’d let him. He usually sleeps on the couch or watches for me at the front window. He’s very adaptable and just wants to be part of what I'm doing. ****** We believe Scout will thrive in a calm, predictable home environment. He can be sensitive to loud noises on walks and does best with gradual exposure to new surroundings to help build his confidence. During a recent short-term adoption, Scout, while very affectionate with his family, had some nipping incidents when startled awake or when being petted on the couch. These occurred in a busier household with children, and all involved males. However, it’s important to note that this behavior has never occurred in either his current or previous foster home, both of which have been calm, consistent, adult-only environments. We are planning to have a trainer assess Scout to better understand how to support him and set him up for long-term success. With a patient, low-key environment and clear boundaries, Scout has shown he can truly relax and flourish. He would love having a confident pal and playmate in his new home, but is adaptable enough to be the only dog. Apply today to learn more. Adopt Scout and Receive Scout's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Scout's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Scout's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Scout, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Scout's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Scout was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Scout’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Scout’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Scout’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
