About this Dog
UPDATE: March 30, 2024 - What I’ve learned about Boomer: -He's gorgeous. -Loves to give kisses. -Love to snuggle. -Loves belly rubs. -Loves playing fetch. -Very lovable. -Never counter surfs. -Takes commands/minds well if he hears “no.” -Loves greeting new people/strangers. -Will allow removing toy from his mouth. -Never used the bathroom in the house. -Lies down on the floor to eat and drink. -Allows touching all over (wipe downs after rain, etc.) -Ok in the car but sometimes tries to get into the front seat. -Did great at the Super Pet Expo with dozens of dogs who walked by. -Great with other dogs in the neighborhood, even the yappers (he just ignores them). -Ok on the leash, very manageable, but doesn’t know heel; so good on a walk that you can walk him and scroll social media at the same time. But he will chase squirrels. -Messy water drinker. -Jumps out of excitement. -Mouthy like a puppy (but never bites or uses teeth). -He does not want another dog to get close to him while he is eating. -If another dog is getting the pets he comes for attention to get all the pets. -Vocal, and will bark out of excitement when putting the leash on to go outside. -Doesn’t like other dogs up close to him while he is eating or playing with his own toy (will give a warning growl). -Easy to go in the crate and stays nicely in the crate, but will bark and howl for 10-15 minutes when he knows that everyone has leaved the home. UPDATE: March 4, 2024 - Boomer is in his foster home in Alexand ria, Va. He doesn't know commands and doesn't know how to walk on a leash, but he sure is handsome! He will "sit" for a treat and takes them very nicely. Boomer whines sometimes when he's trying to communicate that he wants attention or to play, but he can also be very quiet/chill. He only barks (for just a few minutes) if his human leaves the house. He doesn't counter surf or cause a fuss if you eat in front of him, and he is not a resource guarder with humans (he does growl at the resident GSD if she gets too close when he is eating). He is a big boy and doesn't know his size/strength, so he sometimes jumps and has fun running with you in the house to play. Not sure if he'd be great for littles since he's so derpy and every now and then a kiss is almost like a nip. Seems fine with other dogs on neighborhood walks. Not sure about cats, because we don't have any, but he does try to chase squirrels. He is not reactive to other dogs, and he does want to play with the resident GSD but she's not having it. He'll accept her warnings and move along. Boomer loves to give kisses and he loves a good pet. In fact, if he is enjoying it and you stop, he'll politely request for you to continue (with his gigantic paws). He gives gentle kisses but can also get excited and bump into your face. He LOVES car rides, sits down while eating and drinking, and easily corrects when he hears the word "no." He will be neutered soon and is heartworm positive (both will be paid for by the rescue). So many unknowns still, but what is known is that he's a good boy. Boomer was found wandering in the rain on a highway in Cleveland, Texas. His rescue video garnered nearly 2 million views and thousands of comments. Here’s the video: https://fb.watch/qEQLpGn8Oh/
