About this Dog
I’m writing with a heavy heart to ask for help regarding the rehoming of our 9-year-old mixed-breed dog. She’s been part of our family for six years, and we’ve done our best to meet her needs, including working with a trainer specialized in reactivity. However, since the arrival of our baby (now 8 months old), the situation has significantly deteriorated. Our dog is showing clear signs of stress and regression: she recently attempted to lunge toward the baby (no contact), has started having accidents in the house again (including inside the baby’s play area), is stealing food, and seems constantly tense and anxious. She has a bite history (five incidents resulting in superficial but open skin wounds), and despite our continued efforts (environmental management, training, muzzle conditioning, etc.), we are no longer able to provide her with the stable, calm, and structured environment she needs. We genuinely believe she would thrive more in a home without young children, with people who have experience with reactive dogs. That said, we are not looking to abandon her suddenly. We are absolutely willing to keep her for a period of time and to work with you on a gradual, safe, and compassionate transition.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Cookie was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Cookie’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Cookie’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Cookie’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
