About this Horse
Meet Butters! Butters is a sorrel Quarter Horse mare who is ready to find her forever home! She came to Longmeadow is 2021 and spent some time in routine quarantine. Once she was cleared, she was ready to be evaluated. Upon evaluation by our trainers, Butters showed symptoms of discomfort under saddle. After many thorough vet exams, she was diagnosed with kissing spine. Even just light pressure from a saddle causes her discomfort, so she is not a candidate for riding at this time. Despite this, she is a great companion horse to humans with a kind heart and a lot of love to give. If Butters is adopted out with the intention to be ridden, her adopter should know that the next step our vets recommended is to have a surgery to address her kissing spine. Butters has excellent ground manners and is gentle and safe enough for kids or inexperienced handlers to lead, groom, and bathe without concern. Her sweet and personable nature shines through in her little personality traits, like the soft nicker she offers when you walk past her stall. She is also a true connoisseur of snacks. Butters finds joy in every new treat, and her reaction sometimes includes a big smile (you horse people will know itâs the classic flehmen response, but we like to think sheâs showing us how happy she is). However, her love of food does require some management. Having foundered in the past, Butters will need to be kept on a dry lot or wear a grazing muzzle when out on pasture to help manage her grass and calorie intake.Butters stands well for our vets and farrier and is a joy to be around. She enjoys her time spent in a stall (where we hang a slow-feed hay net) just as much as she enjoys her time outside. Wherever there is food, Butters is happy. While she gets along with both mares and geldings, we think itâs important to note that Butters is the head mare in all herds, and she carries this title with confidence. She would do best in a herd where she wouldnât need to fight to keep this title. Butters is the kind of mare that youâd want your children to grow up with. She would love to spend her days being groomed, loved, and of course, being fed her treats (in moderation, of course). Adoption fee: $400Height: 14.2hh

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the BUTTERS, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming BUTTERS's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and BUTTERS was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, BUTTERS’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the BUTTERS’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, BUTTERS’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
