Bunnies live about 8-13 years and have very special dietary and medical needs that can get pricey, so it's important to know all that it takes to care for a rabbit. Rabbits make great companions and have a wide array of personalities. If you are thinking of adopting a bunny, come visit the Ames Animal Shelter during open hours.Rabbits receive a flea preventative as needed, are spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a 24PetWatch microchip implanted. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, LUCA's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and LUCA was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, LUCA’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, LUCA’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
