About this Cat
Meet Ginger Beer 13 years old • Neutered Male • Indoor/Outdoor • Special Diet & Medication (Hyperthyroidism) Ginger Beer is a mellow, affectionate senior cat looking for a soft landing in his golden years. At 13, he’s a low-key gentleman with a gentle spirit and a deep appreciation for good food, kind humans, and cozy rugs (especially the ones you’re trying to walk on). He’s not the type to curl up in bed with you, but he’ll be a quiet companion nearby — lounging on the couch, resting at your feet, or keeping you company while you go about your day. Brushing, chin scritches, and snack breaks are his love language. Ginger Beer has hyperthyroidism, which is easily managed with twice-daily oral medication and access to food throughout the day. He also receives a long-acting antibiotic injection every 3–6 months for dental support. He’s incredibly easy to handle — even the vet calls him “spring-loaded” — and takes his meds and brushing like a pro. He’s spent the past few years primarily outdoors, so he’s independent and street-smart. Ginger Beer would do best in a home with outdoor access (not suited for apartments) and people who understand the rhythms of a senior cat’s life. He’s been around other animals without issue and would likely do well with respectful children, thanks to his calm and tolerant nature. Why he’s being rehomed: Ginger Beer was jointly cared for by me and my former landlord, who sadly passed away. The property is now in the hands of her children, who aren’t willing to support his basic care. I’ve continued to do everything I can, but I can’t meet all his needs alone. He deserves a loving home where his medical and emotional needs will be met with kindness and consistency. Ginger Beer will come with his remaining medication, food, and supplies. If you can offer this sweet senior boy a safe, stable, and loving home, he’ll return it with quiet companionship and gratitude. Ginger Beer prefers to be in/out and his rehoming fee is $60. He lives in Silverton with his family. This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances.
