About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 06/10/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners initially because they felt they could not provide the one-on-one she craves, adopted but returned after an altercation in the home with the existing dog Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Sister is a lovely standard poodle who is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines, and heartworm negative. She’s a devoted, people-loving girl who thrives on companionship and connection—just like so many in her breed. Her medical records note a short time on Prozac in mid-2024 at her previous owner’s request due to reported nervous behavior. However, since arriving in rescue, her foster has seen no need for this medication. Sister is showing her true self—a happy, fun-loving dog with a lot of joy to share. Please read Sister's description entirely! Weight: 38 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Sister would be happiest with a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. However, with a firm plan in place for lots of long walks and play time off leash (dog park, friends yard, etc) at least twice per week, we think Sister could exist peacefully without a fence. The key for Sister is lots and lots of attention and action. What kind of home would be best for me? Sister is looking for a calm, loving home where she can be someone’s best friend. At this time, we are looking for Sister to be the one and only bestie. She really wants to be someone's heart dog, and she is struggling with figuring out how to share your heart with others. She has never had that title - One and Only - and she wants it. With us here at the poodle farm, Sister is comfortable with other dogs. In a foster home with one large male dog and one small female dog, she did well with the other dogs. But - none of us are her person and we think she knows it. Here she gets along great with her roommates (currently Marley the terrier and Romeo the standard) and lots of lots of coming and going (Sister is living in our director's office). Sister is happiest when she’s with her people—snuggling on the couch, tagging along for car rides, or just hanging out while you go about your day. Her ideal home will offer consistency, encouragement, and affection. She would blossom with basic obedience and lots and lots of walks. She doesn’t ask for much—just someone to love her for who she is. A patient heart, a comfy bed, and a sense of humor (especially about missing snacks!) are all it takes to make her feel truly at home. What is my personality like? Sister is a sweet soul with a heart full of quiet courage. While she can be a bit shy at first in new places, she quickly opens up with reassurance and a gentle hand. She wants to belong, and it’s clear she’s eager to bond deeply with her people. There’s something special about the way Sister seeks out connection. She watches you closely, looks to you for guidance, and gives back love tenfold. She’s soft, sensitive, and sincerely devoted. And yes—she has a little mischievous side, too! Sister is quite the curious kitchen explorer and has been known to help herself to anything tasty within reach. With some basic boundaries and a securely closed trash can, she’s an easy, lovable housemate with a knack for keeping life interesting. Sister is well-mannered, knows her commands, and clearly wants to please. She’s not perfect, but she’s absolutely wonderful in all the ways that matter. We are full disclosure so here are the facts. Before Sister was adopted, she had history with being a little dicey with other dogs but never with people. In her adoptive home (she was only with her new family a few days) when the fight occurred with her canine sister in the home, she did put teeth on and bite the human trying to break up the fight. Sister had one other time here when she acted very oddly. It was with a long time, very dog savvy volunteer who happens to be male and have a beard and was wearing a ball cap. Sister was very cautious with this man, and even with treats and he sitting on the floor, she did not respond positively to him. With women and other men (no hat and no beard) she's been great. How do I act when I first meet new people? Sister greets new friends with a wagging tail and soft energy. She may take a moment to feel things out, but her sweet nature shines through quickly. She’s gentle, trusting, and ready to love. Other tips and tidbits: Sister was born 12/02/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
