About this Cat
Meet Langston Hughes – the sleepy snuggler with the heart of a poet and the look of a tiny leopard! Langston Hughes is a stunning kitten with bold leopard-like spots, soft stripes, and wide-set ears that give him the look of a miniature wildcat—minus the wild. This handsome boy is calm, gentle, and the mellowest of his litter. While his siblings are off zooming and wrestling, Langston is often found curled up in a cozy pile or quietly soaking in some extra snuggles from his mama. Though still primarily nursing, Langston is starting to nibble on soft food and learning litter box skills with his mama’s guidance. He loves belly rubs, soft pets, and curling up beside you for a nap. He’s friendly and affectionate, though a little more reserved than his siblings—he won’t push his way to the front for attention, but he melts the moment you scoop him up. Langston is beginning to explore more and test his climbing skills, but he’s still happiest in the arms of someone he trusts or tucked in beside a sibling. He may be shy around new people at first, but his sweetness always shines through. If you’re looking for a kitten who’s gentle, loving, and looks like he walked right out of the jungle into your arms, Langston Hughes is ready to bring his quiet magic into your home. Langston Hughes is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
