Date into Rescue: 04/05/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owner Foster location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC Special Needs? Coco is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. In 07/24 Coco had a dental with extractions. On 04/18/25 Coco had a dental cleaning with 1 extraction. She is a girl who is going to need regular dentals. On 04/18/25 Coco also had lumps removed from her eyelid and the side of her face. She does have some mature lady lumps remaining that the vet did not recommend removing. Coco is pretty heavy. Our vets suspected this may be an indicator of cushings disease. Coco has been tested and is negative for cushings; full vet records will be provided. Weight: 23 lbs - Coco is overweight. She needs to lose at least 5 pounds. Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No, but she would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Sweet Coco has lived most of her life as the princess of the castle and that is what she is looking for. Her forever home will meet several criteria. First, you must be home more than you are away. Coco wants to be with her people. Second, no other dogs. Coco lives with other small dogs in foster, but she really wants to be someone's sole focus and dedication. You must allow dogs to sleep in the bed; this is non-negotiable for a spoiled princess girl. And finally, you must be committed to daily exercise and a diet. What is my personality like? Coco was a well-loved dog for many years. She was purchased as a puppy and was the cherished companion of an aging, single woman. Sadly, over the last year, dementia has taken away the human that once loved and spoiled Coco. Replaced was a woman who didn't know her dog most days, who lashed out in frustration, and who could no longer care for herself. It's a very sad story that is becoming all too familiar. The family that owned Coco watched patiently as they knew how much their mom loved her dog. But when her behavior became unpredictable and Coco was on the receiving end, they intervened to get Coco to rescue. Coco arrived in rescue and needed to decompress. She's been doing that for the last month and is now ready for her forever home. Coco is a sweet girl who is accustomed to being the queen of the castle. As you can see in her photos, food is her love language. She is a gentle girl who longs to be someone's full-time companion. Coco enjoys quiet, low traffic and lots of Netflix and chill. She's the ideal dog for an active retiree that just wants a best friend. How do I act when I first meet new people? Other tips and tidbits: Coco's birthday is 05/27/2016 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
