About this Bird
Hatch Date: 2012 Dusty is a gorgeous 13-year-old confirmed male Congo African Grey. He is a loving and endearing chatterbox who is a pure joy to share life with! He would appreciate someone who is around a good deal of the day to keep him company and allow him out-of-cage time. Dusty is extremely intelligent, flirtatious, jovial, and very receptive to learning new things. His ability to mimic is astonishing, and he has also proven to have his own personal music vault stored in memory. Music is everything to this funny guy. Dusty would spend the whole day in front of Alexa if he could. He loves to sing along, and his lyrics include, "Hi-Ho" and "Oh Yeah," to name a few. It is important to note that Dusty is headstrong and can be stubborn if asked to do something he doesn't want to do(step up, etc) These are the times to respect his boundaries. He is making huge strides with understanding that " no biting" means just that. Out of cage time is a must, and with that, comes a strongcuriosity that can get Dusty into trouble. With this in mind, Dusty's ideal home will have a play or enrichment area or bird room, where he can fly from his cage and back, and explore and play to his heart's content! But supervision is mandatory, because, given the chance, he will begin to "explore" everything with his beak-- and is capable of damaging wood, furnishings and more! Soon after Dusty was surrendered a little over a year ago, he was exhibiting a head shaking and/or twitching and several times fell from his perch. It wasn't clear if it was a seizure or a fit of anxiety, but these episodes are non-existent now. He still shakes his head a little from time to time. When the concerning episodes occurred, his foster mom took him for a few visits with the avian vet, and after examination and testing, it is believed that they may have been neurological in nature, so the vet prescribed a medication twice daily. Dusty hasn't had any episodes in the past 6 months or so, and his foster mom has felt comfortable lowering his dose to 1x daily. Dusty should have a follow-up visit and advisement from the avian vet, before tapering him off the meds completely, should he remain episode free. Should he remain on meds, a potential adopter will need to confidently administer them. Dusty is guarded while both in and on his cage. He does protest being put in, if his foster mom goes out or when it is time for bed. This sometimes leads him to try to bite out of frustration, and as a last resort attempt to have things his way. But again, Dusty is making very nice progress with the "no biting" prompt. Currently on a clean, healthy diet of quality nuts & seeds that also includes pellets, Dusty also clamors for a fresh diet and his favs are apples and carrots-- He will ask for some foods by name!If you think you have time and room in your heart and home to love Dusty forever, please fill out an application today! Adopt Dusty and Receive Dogecoin
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Dusty's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).
0.0 DOGE is Dusty's current Dogecoin balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Dusty, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Dusty's Dogecoin here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Dusty was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Dusty’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

We want the Dusty’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Dusty’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
