About this Cat
Meet Big — A Sweet Soul in Search of Safety and Love Big is a sensitive, soulful cat with a big heart and an even bigger desire to be close to his person. He’s around 4 years old, has a healthy appetite (he’s a fan of “health food” and the occasional kitty McDonald’s—aka Fancy Feast), and absolutely lives for playtime. Laser pointers? Obsessed. A string tied to a stick? Pure joy. He doesn’t need fancy toys—just time and love. Big was once adopted into a home where he bonded deeply with his adoptive mom. He loved her fiercely. But an unfortunate incident occurred: his adoptive dad, a very tall man (over 6’2”), accidentally dropped him. Big wasn’t physically injured, but emotionally, everything changed. He began hiding whenever his mom left for work, too afraid and overwhelmed to be around her husband who worked from home. His once-bright spark dimmed, and his mom heartbreakingly realized he wasn’t thriving. Wanting better for him, she made the painful decision to return him to his foster home. Since returning, Big has also experienced stress being reintroduced to his brother, and he’s been peeing outside of his litter box as a result. This is something we want to be honest about. It’s not who he truly is—it’s a sign of how deeply overwhelmed he feels. We believe with the right person, the right environment, and a little time, Big will recover and return to the joyful, affectionate cat we know he can be. What Big Needs: A quiet, calm home without other pets (or with very slow, gentle introductions). A human who is home often—someone who works from home or part-time would be ideal. Someone patient, kind, and understanding, who will give him the chance to rebuild trust at his own pace. A safe indoor life, with the option for supervised outdoor time—he enjoys fresh air and sunbeams when he feels secure. Big will spend hours by your side, simply keeping you company, curled up next to you while you read, work, or relax. He’s not a lap cat, but he is a deep companion—loyal, loving, and always nearby. He just needs a soft place to land and someone who sees him for who he really is. If you’re looking for a meaningful connection with a cat who just needs someone to believe in him, Big may be your guy. Big is being cared for by a member of the community.
