About this Dog

I want to be clear that I do not want to give Biscuit away... but I have no choice and he deserves to have a happy and safe home where his issues can be dealt with without all the stress of living here. I got Biscuit 3 yrs ago in Houston after suffering through a traumatic experience and while dealing with a medical disability. Right from the start he was aggressive at 14 wks but I made a commitment and with a lot of treats, I was able to coax him out of his shell. He was the brightest joy of my life and was the only reason I was and still am able to get out of bed. It took a lot of work but I trained him to the point where I don't notice his aggression unless he was hurt, really scared (trapped in a small space or going to the vet), resource guarding (high value treats only), or during grooming. However, since moving in with my parents and younger siblings, his anxiety has gotten much worse. He grew up in a very calm environment and with everyone yelling at him quite often (sometimes even attacking him), he has naturally been hurt or trapped in small spaces with people he's scared of much more often. He gives very clear warnings before snapping/biting and has commands to help him through stressful situations but the little kids who've overstep his boundaries often don't see them. Now he is confined to his cage or my bedroom and my parents want him gone even though I plan to move out in August. A few more of his issues include barking when new people (or dogs) arrive as well as in the backyard and separation anxiety (he's a pandemic pup and the house is rarely empty here). Somehow, he has been trained to go to bed after 8 so he snaps, growls at the air if disturbed the slightest bit while near him though this isn't too much of a problem unless you're too close. He's also very protective of kids and will bark, jump and mouth on whoever he perceives to be the aggressor (whoever's older) unless both are young kids. The same applies with people who are yelling and/or fighting with each other even if it's only "play-fighting". He is very protective of his owner (me) and attacks anyone yelling and/or fighting them unless it involves kids in which case he will attack his owner. While these cases rarely causes any serious damage, one of his serious fights occurred during a storm when two older kids started "play-fighting". He also does not like getting picked up (though with his commands, quick pick-up are possible) or grabbed by the neck. In our previous home and with everyone gone so he can be free, he sleeps most of the day but he's always ready to play and he loves meeting new people. He's been trained to do well on walks, and he loves accidentally pushing you off the couch by trying to be as close to you as possible. He's house-trained and refusing to go potty in the house so be prepared for scratches as the door every 4-6 hrs (or less if he just sunbathed on his last potty break). He knows several "tricks" and commands already. He's really just a lovable goofball and who needs a peaceful home without young children.

Adopt Biscuit and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. How will Biscuit receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Biscuit, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Biscuit's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Biscuit was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Biscuit’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Biscuit’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Biscuit’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
