About this Dog
Ellen is a petite, approximately 8-year-old, 57-pound, sweet senior who loves soft beds, moseying walks, and supervising yard work. She was an owner surrender that spent a few months in the shelter, and now she’s ready for a comfortable retirement. What a difference a foster home has made for Ellen – the vet says she has an old knee injury that bothers her back leg, but her mobility has massively improved with regular exercise and she has mastered the doggy door. Ellen’s walks have increased to almost 2-miles, where she loves to charge at and give some excitement to the local, lazy deer herd. Ellen is good with other dogs – she loves her foster packmates. Cats are an unknown, but she does have a prey-drive as evidenced by her joy in bossing the deer.Ellen can be a picky eater, but you can ensure she eats her meal by holding the bowl for her, as is appropriate for all highly-privileged, classy ladies. She loves snacks, can hear the treats jar opening a mile away, but is not a counter surfer. This beautiful senior has had mast cell tumors removed, a common skin tumor in dogs that is sensitive to allergens. Her follow-ups show no additional growth, but Ellen will stay on passive preventative for the rest of her life (regular Benadryl and Prilosec) to prevent activation of mast cells. She is being fostered in San Antonio if you interested in adopting her.
