About this Dog
Clark is a 4-year-old, 78-pound, neutered male and a giant sweetie with a lot to say. His fosters have learned that Mr. Griswold purrs when he is happy, but it sounds like a growl. Clark sings when he is excited getting ready to go for a walk. He does well on the leash, and is a handsome runner. His foster family has taken him running up to 8-miles, and it’s like an easy cruise for Clark. Mr. Griswold would love to be part of your neighborhood HOA and lay down all the laws about speeding, as he is actively working on his training to ignore passing cars while on the run or walk and is getting much better.Clark loves toys, tearing them apart, but has never turned his attentions to destroying anything else in the house. He will happily busy himself with a Nylabone or deer antler. He is highly food-motivated, will surf the counters if left unsupervised, and has never met a snack without his name on it. He can be prone to bullying and eating his foster packmates’ food, so needs to eat in his own area to prevent food bossiness. He would do best as the only male dog in his household, but did adjust to his young male foster packmate after a few weeks. Clark got along with his female packmates from the start. Clark is house trained and uses a doggy door. He does well when left out in the house while his humans are gone.Clark came to the rescue as a stray with a clean bill of health with the exception of being HW+. He has completed his treatment and is currently living a quiet, relaxed lifestyle for a few weeks to avoid side effects. The ideal forever home for Clark would be a family who can appreciate his energetic Labrador-like style and continue building his manners. Clark loves to play tug with his toys and wrestle with his human, but may see that as a challenge from another male dog. He is a big dog who doesn’t yet recognize how to tone it down for little humans, and while he does well with his foster family’s 11yo kiddo, he might be a lot for a younger child. He is being fostered in the San Antonio area if you are interested in adopting him.
