About this Dog

He is a sweet, loyal, loving boy that aims to please. We found him in our neighborhood after he was dumped by his previous owner and though we truly love him and wish he remain a part of our family, we are unable to give him the life and attention he truly deserves. He is full of energy, loves playing fetch, chasing squirrels, playing with his toys, and cuddling. He has been wonderful around our toddler and our other dog, but our dog is 11 yrs old and plays pretty hard. Our child is at an age where he feeds off their energy and when they all feed off of each other, the toddler typically winds up hurt from getting knocked over in the play, so as you can imagine, that is our primary concern. He’s constantly trying to get in the middle of them, so it's not a dynamic that can continue. The only real way around that is to crate Ponchy most of the day, every day and that is no life for him while our child learns, and if that takes years, it is too long. Ponch deserves the love and play he was made for. He has been neutered, microchipped, house broke. He did an intensive 4-week board & train program at Cosmic Canine in Plano. Part of it was e-collar training. They have been an excellent resource for us and could be for the new owners. We have discussed with them, and they will come train Ponch’s new humans on how to work with him for an in-home session at our expense. We went through it and it was so helpful and awesome. We needed the training more than he did on how to not send mixed signals. Brad (who connected immediately with Ponchy) was his main trainer. He knows “come”, “sit”, “down”, “heel”, “drop”, “wait”, “free”, “crate” and “place” (when we need him to stay on a specific place). Other things to know: • He doesn’t go up on furniture. • He loves to chase squirrels and bunnies. He will hunt them out and chase them if they are in your yard. • He likes to bark at animals passing by – he seems to want to protect his home. • He is so great with kids, but because of the neck or resource guarding triggers, we are very cautious, which we feel everyone should be with kids and dogs. We treat our other dog the same in this regard. • He is such a sweet goofball that likes to pounce and run and jump. • He loves to play catch. He will “drop it” at your feet if he knows there is a reward. • He is so excited to spend time together • He loves walks but does them at the end of the leash. Even though he knows how to “heel”, once he is released from “heel” he is back to leading the way. • When doing commands, his release word is “free” • He loves to chew toys and is very effective at it – we will send a few of his favorites. • We use his food as treats to train throughout the day. • We are happy to give his elevated place, collar, e-collar, leash, treat bag, and a few of his toys and treats. • When he hears the freezer open, he comes for the ice cubes • He typically has good late afternoon naps and does great sleeping in his crate every night • He likes to stick by your side and if he isn’t, he is certainly exploring • He trusts calm, loving, treat providing humans quickly We are happy to share any other details needed. There are 3 main items that we would want to share: 1. He is apprehensive about the vet. At the vet, he is ok when it is just us in the room, but when the vet needs to do the physical exam, he feels he needs to protect himself, so we make it a habit to muzzle. It is only needed during the physical exam and then he warms up. That has occurred twice. 2. At home he is a fun, ready to play or for affection or treats, kind of pup. We think grabbing the collar when he is in an apprehensive state may be a trigger to be mindful of. Under typical conditions, this is not an issue. We put his collars on and take them off every day and he is calm and trusting through that. He also is great with being redirected via a leash rather than collar - we are told that is because with is a little less personal. 3. With our older dog, he has shown resource guarding tendencies a few times. It has been fine, but we do feed them separately to not feed in to an issue.

Adopt Ponchy and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Ponchy's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Ponchy receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Ponchy, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Ponchy's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Ponchy was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Ponchy’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Ponchy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Ponchy’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
