About this Dog
LOCATION: Minden, Louisiana DOB: 5/17/2014When you look back on today, you will remember this as the day you first met the beautiful and grand Dakota. Her foster mom calls her “an angel” and all the girls at the vet’s office gush over how sweet and well behaved she is. Miss Dakota may be a senior gal but with all that life experience comes wisdom. Dakota is potty trained, crate trained and knows some obedience commands such as Sit, Go Potty and Up. She loves car rides and going for walks. One of her favorite things to do is hold down the couch and snuggle up with a toy and a human. She is not a Velcro Dane but she does love to get her loving. She also will bury her head in your lap for neck scratches. If you stop and she isn't done, she will give you the paw, or nudge/flip your hand up to get more. She has been around other dogs and isn’t afraid to speak her mind with them if needed. She would best thrive in a home where she is the only dog, or a home with a low-key male dog (she doesn't want to share her space with female dogs). She does want her food all to herself and needs to be fed separately from other dogs.Cats? Easy-peasy-like a walk in the park. Dakota can get nervous around tiny humans. Her ideal home would have children over the age of twelve. She’s hoping her new family would be okay letting her sleep in the bed with them. She promises to be respectful of your space and not be all up in your business. Her right rear paw does have a pronounced deformity. Her foster family calls it her “bunny foot.” The vet said it’s ok but she will need to be monitored for arthritis as she goes along. She can run, spin, play tug-o-war and so far has not stopped her from being pretty amazing. And if she is given a squeaky ball to play with, you've pretty much made her day, week, and year. Nail trims are not as fantastic of a time for sweet Dakota. She has those done at the vet's office. Dakota was with one family for her whole life. Due to unforeseen circumstances out of her control, she is now looking for her second, and hopefully, last family. Will you be that family for her?Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Adopt Dakota and Receive Dakota's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Dakota's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Dakota's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Dakota, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Dakota's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Dakota was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Dakota’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Dakota’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Dakota’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
