About this Dog
LOCATION: Coralville, IADOB: 05/04/2024Meet Abby – a sweet, snow-white Great Dane mix with striking black ears and a heart full of love. She’s still learning what it means to feel safe and settled, but this girl is making incredible progress every day. Abby is all about the indoor life—soft couches, loving humans, and a routine she can count on.Abby’s personality is a blend of gentle and goofy. She plays hard with her dog buddies, then happily crashes for a long nap beside you on the couch. She’s not the kind of dog who’s “on” all the time—she knows how to mellow out and loves being part of the family without demanding constant attention. She’s doing great with potty training (only one accident so far) and learning to be okay in a crate, though it’s not her favorite spot just yet. She’ll likely do fine without one once she’s fully house-trained and adjusted. Abby walks beautifully on leash—one of the best leash walkers her foster has ever had—and rides nicely in the car, too. What’s especially endearing is how fast Abby is learning to trust. Every day she opens up just a little more, adapting to her new life and showing her foster family that she’s got so much love to give. She’s very attached to her people and even seeks out the older kids in the house for attention.Abby does well with dogs of all sizes and personalities, though she might be a bit much for seniors. She’s great with cats, even chill around horses and chickens. A confident adult dog in the home would likely help her continue to blossom.New situations can be overwhelming for Abby, and she needs someone who will advocate for her—not push her into interactions she’s not ready for. She’s not a dog who wants to be the life of the party, but in her own home, with her people and her routine, she’s amazing. She knows “let’s go” and will follow your lead if she trusts you. Brooms are suspicious. Strangers take time. But a family with patience and calm energy will see just how special this girl is.Abby would do best in a quieter home with older children (10+), where things don’t change too quickly or too often. She has an old injury on her back leg—nothing that slows her down, but worth noting. If you’re looking for a companion with a tender heart and the kind of loyalty that only comes from a dog who’s learned to trust, Abby might be your girl. Give her a little time, and she’ll give you everything she’s got.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Adopt Abby and Receive Abby's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Abby's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Abby's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Abby, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Abby's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Abby was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Abby’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Abby’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Abby’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
