LOCATION: Oak Grove, KYDOB: 01/07/2023Meet Big Boy, a gentle giant with a heart as big as his name! This 2-3-year-old Great Dane x Great Pyrenees mix is as sweet and laid-back as they come. He’s been through a lot in his life, but he’s settling in with his foster and starting to show his charming personality.Big Boy is a dog’s dog—he loves canine companions and is a natural at making furry friends. He’s also great with kids and enjoys their company, though he’s a little shy around men at first. But don’t worry, he warms up quickly with a little patience and kindness. Rope toys make him a bit uneasy (understandable given his past), but hand him a ball, and you’ll see his playful side shine.This handsome boy has a unique brindle patch on his butt that makes him even more special. He’s the definition of relaxed, often found soaking up the sun during his outdoor time. He’s working on leash manners, which isn’t his favorite thing due to his previous experience with an embedded collar or rope, but he’s eager to learn with gentle encouragement and a harness.Big Boy is also impressively polite—call him to come, and he listens right away. If he’s barking, a simple “no” gets him to stop and lie down. He’s shown he can be sweet and calm with strangers, charming even the sewer workers who visited the shelter.Big Boy is also great with cats. For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Big Boy was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Big Boy’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Big Boy’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Big Boy’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org.
