About this Dog
Cashew found himself at an SPCA in Virginia after being hit by a car. He was adopted and moved to Texas where he lived with his owner, her three roommates, and his best friend who was a 25lb dog. Then six months later, he was surrendered to AAC when his owner was no longer able to keep him.He was pretty fearful when he landed back in the shelter; the loud noises were overwhelming and he was scared of things going over his head. A few volunteers started spending time with him every day, going at his own pace and letting him warm up to them. He showed us that he is a lover very quickly and has continued to open up and feel more confident.Cashew is one of the smartest dogs we've ever known. He is a great problem solver, has shown to be resilient and trainable, he knows when to party and when to chill, and he loves making friends especially when there is cheese involved. As for basics, Cashew is already house trained and crate trained. He's a solid medium-to-laidback energy level boy and would love to live with another dog (or by himself, that's okay too!). With dogs, he has a soft playstyle and stays away from conflict. Cashew is just such a gentle, affectionate boy with the biggest heart who wants someone to help him feel loved.

Adopt CASHEW and Receive CASHEW's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, CASHEW's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is CASHEW's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the CASHEW, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming CASHEW's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and CASHEW was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, CASHEW’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the CASHEW’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, CASHEW’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
