About this Dog
Meet Southern From forgotten to family-bound — Southern’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Southern was once scheduled to be euthanized in a high-kill shelter, arriving to us shut down, terrified, and heartworm positive. With patience, professional training, and dedicated medical care, this beautiful boy has made an incredible transformation. Today, Southern is healthy, happy, and finally ready to find a home where he can feel safe and loved. He’s an old soul with a gentle heart who may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, his playful and affectionate personality begins to shine. He thrives in the company of other dogs and would do best in a home with another calm, confident pup to show him the ropes. He walks well on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls, though his hips are starting to show some signs of age—understandable for a dog who likely spent most of his life outdoors. Now that he's completed his heartworm treatment, Southern is ready for the life he always deserved: one filled with soft beds, belly rubs, and a family of his own. This sweet boy would be best matched with an experienced dog owner who understands the needs of a dog that’s learning to trust again. Could that be you? Medical Notes: Neutered Vaccinated Microchipped Heartworm Positive Heartworm Treatment completed ProHeart 12 Injection
Contribute to Southern's Stash!

100% of Southern's balance will be sent to whoever adopts Southern.
Adopt Southern and Receive Southern's Fund
Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Southern's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised.
$0.0 is Southern's current balance
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. If you adopted the Southern, thank you for providing a home and a loving family!
Please begin the process of claiming Southern's contribution here.
For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the contribution by submitting the necessary information.
The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the contribution. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Southern was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Southern’s balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.
We want the Southern’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Southern’s balance will remain in our general fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
