About this Dog
Hey there… my name is Jace. I don’t really know how to say this, but I’m scared. I try to be brave — I wag my tail, I sit like a good boy when people walk by, I even give a little smile sometimes — but when the lights go out in the shelter and the barking fades, I lay on the cold floor and wonder if anyone is ever going to come for me. I’m only three years old. Just 65 pounds of love and hope in a Terrier/American Staffordshire mix body. I don’t cause any trouble. I'm a quiet guy that walks calmly on a leash and I do well in my kennel. The staff says I’m easy — easy to walk, easy to love. But still, no one has picked me. Before I ended up here, I had a family… sort of. I was surrounded by a bunch of puppies — not mine, but I loved them like they were. I helped keep them safe. I watched over them. When they were scared, they curled up next to me. And then, one day, we were all taken away. One by one, some of the little pups left the shelter off to new lives. I smiled for them. I really did. But I’m alone. And the people here… their voices are getting heavier. Their eyes don’t meet mine as much. I’ve heard words like “urgent” and “out of time.” I don’t fully understand, but something deep inside me does. I’m not ready to give up. I still have so much love to give. I’m the kind of dog who just wants to be near you. I can be that go anywhere with you on any adventure type of dog or the couch potato dog you've dreamed about— I’ll adjust. I just need someone to look at me and say, “You’re safe now, Jace. You’re home.” I can be fostered. I can be adopted. I can even do foster-to-adopt if you want to try things out. I’ll be patient and kind. I’ll walk beside you without pulling. I’ll rest my head in your lap when you’re tired and sit quietly when you’re busy. I’ll never ask for much — just that you see me. Please… don’t let this be the end of my story. I’ve been waiting for someone like you. Love,Jace *Guest Posting**You can foster to adopt, foster or adopt!* If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at [email protected] or 865-236-0830.
