About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 06/04/25 Reason for being in rescue: Chicory was found as a stray in Durham NC and landed at a shelter. She was a very sick girl. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter and took over her medical care. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Chicory arrived in rescue a very sick dog with Parvo. She has been treated and fully recovered and is now ready for her forever home. As Chicory has healed we have seen her true personality emerge and it is fabulous. Chicory was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her. Our best guess is that she is a miniature poodle. Given her unknown origin, we cannot guarantee that she is not mixed breed and that she is hypoallergenic or may not shed. Weight: 13 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Chicory loves to play "catch me if you can" if she gets out and must have been a racecar in her past life. What kind of home would be best for me? This young, active girl is looking for an active home that is ready to keep up. Chicory is so much fun - she is playful and eager and a little naughty (in the cutest way). She requires another young and active dog in the home. She loves her puppy friends and always looks forward to playing with them. As long as you have lots of energy, toys, and a plan for training Chicory says she is game! What is my personality like? Chicory is all puppy all the time. Toys are her absolute favorite - she literally has no off switch once she starts playing. Walking is fun, but ankles are great for nibbling while you're out for a stroll. Yes, Chicory needs some training and leash manners. Whatever Chicory's start to life may have been, it has NOT dimmed her joy. This resilient princess is ready to make up for lost time! How do I act when I first meet new people? Chicory is a happy girl who enjoys meeting new friends. She's even learned the sound of the Ring doorbell and runs to meet people! Other tips and tidbits: When we pulled Chicory (who was found as a stray) the estimate she was 9 years old. As she has healed, we've realized that she was likely just very sick. Our veterinarian has re-aged Chicory at 2 years old. We celebrate her birthday 05/19/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
