About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 4/14/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/puppy that did not sell Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sunny Boy is a young dog. He is up to date on vaccines for his age. Sunny Boy is not neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter agenda that requires you to neuter him within 6 months at your expense and provide proof of neuter. Weight: 8 lbs and growing - Sunny is a toy australian shepherd. We estimate he will be between 11-15 lbs when full grown Height: 10 in at the shoulder - Sunny is a toy australian shepherd. We estimated he will be no larger than 12 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No - and his reproductive parts are still forming, we think it would be best to wait until he's a year old to neuter Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No but Sunny boy has no concept of leash walking yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Sunny Boy is a young dog with little life experience. He requires an experienced, patient owner with another dog. Consistency and patience are key with this boy. Sunny Boy has never lived with children or cats. What he knows is dogs, and dogs are his comfort. Every experience with Sunny Boy is going to be new; he has a lot to learn but is young and resilient. Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Puppies are generally very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! What is my personality like? Sunny Boy is shy and reserved here at the poodle farm. He was kennel raised and it shows. He is cautious around both other dogs and people although he does love brown eyes and the puppy he came in with. Sunny Boy needs a patient home that will gently guide him into being a pet. He needs to learn everything. Leash walking, car riding, and going outside his personal area. Sunny boy knows nothing of this big world and he is not sure he wants to learn it. He will - with your guidance and patience. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Timid and shy Other tips and tidbits: Sunny Boy's birthdate is 10/7/2023 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
