About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 2/21/2023 Reason for being in rescue: stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Zeppelin is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative Weight: 59 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Zeppelin is a big guy and needs to live in a house with a four (4) foot tall, or taller, fenced yard. What kind of home would be best for me? Zeppelin needs an experienced dog adopter. He is a beautiful young dog whose uncertain past still leaves him a little rough around the edges. On his own in a calm environment, he is happy-go lucky. In large crowds, Zeppelin feeds off the energy in the room and is easily over-stimulated. An over-stimulated young dog that doesn't know how to check his emotions can sometimes lead to naughty behaviors. It would probably be best for both you and Zeppelin if he were the only dog in the home. He can be placed in a home with a calm and stable female dog. He doesn't do well with male dogs or dogs that are high strung. Zeppelin is a calm and stable dog unless another dog riles him up. For this reason, you cannot take him to dog parks. Zeppelin needs an adopter who understands this and steers him to situations that will be beneficial to Zeppelin when they go out. If you keep him calm he is a wonderful dog. Zeppelin would do best in a home without kids unless they are older and calmer, about high school age. This big guy had a rough start to life but still loves people. Please note, this smart guy knows how to open latched gates. You will need to tie down or put a lock on the latch. What is my personality like? Zeppelin was found abandoned in a field. This poor guy was dumped in a field in the country and stood on the side of the road in that field for a week! The big guy had no idea why he was there and why no one would come for him. Thankfully finally someone stopped, picked him up, and reached out to rescue for help. Named because of his wild hair when he arrived, Zeppelin has been a delight since the day he arrived at Dreamweaver Farms. Zeppelin enjoys being around people and he gets along well with calm female dogs. He rides well when crated though he doesn't enjoy being put into the crate. Once in, he's fine. Zeppelin needs to be taught basic commands like, sit, stay, come, down, etc. We have seen him walk well on a leash, but his adopter should reinforce his training on leash. Zeppelin is a smart guy and loves to please people. This fact, and the fact that he is food motivated, should allow his adopter to easily train Zeppelin. Currently, he tends to mark his territory when inside so his adopter will need to teach him not to do this. Zeppelin is trusting that there is a kind, caring, and loving adopter out there for him, so that when it comes time to write his story it will be a rags-to-riches saga with his adopter as the hero. Be Zeppelin's hero and take this big guy home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Zeppelin is a people lover and people pleaser. He almost loves people more than he does treats. Put them together and he's in heaven. Other tips and tidbits: Zeppelin was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimates Zeppelin's birth date to be on or about 2/21/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
