About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 1/5/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/Harley lived the first part of his life at an Amish breeding farm Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Harley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Harley had a dental on 01/19/24 and lost 10 teeth. Weight: 60 lbs Height: 23 in est Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? It is preferred for Harley. But let's talk... it depends on how much off leash exercise you can give him in a week. What kind of home would be best for me? Harley is a breeder release and had minimal socialization before arriving here at CPR. This means most every interaction and encounter was a new experience for Harley. Despite this he has adapted well. He is not fearful, but curious. When entering a new environment or encountering something he's never seen before he needs about 10 to 15 minutes to process the situation before adapting to it. Sometimes a little reassurance is required. Because we have seen this process, we believe he will have no problem adapting to his new forever home. Harley is a big boy that needs to live in a house rather than an apartment. It's not required the house have fenced yard, but it never hurts to have a fence when you have a dog. Harley is just a chill dude who wants to hang out with his new family. He will need to be taught the basic commands and how to walk on a leash. While a big guy, he is not high strung or playful. For these reasons his caregiver believes he'd be a phenomenal dog for a senior or senior couple. Since he is a big boy, we don't recommend him for homes with small children. Harley has been tested with cats and small dogs and was curious about both, but showed no issues toward them in a meet and greet environment. What is my personality like? Harley is a calm, mellow dude who's favorite thing to do is chill. The only thing he will seek out is love from you. He'll sit by your side in a state of bliss if you are petting him and loving on him. Harley just loves to chill, get love from you, and watch the world go by. Carolina Poodle Rescue is pleased to work with breeders who are eager to have their dogs find a home. When our site mentions breeder release, we want adopters and supporters to know that this dog will require extra care transitioning into your home. Please know this is a rehabilitation process for the dog. It is a commitment to showing the dog how to be social, building trust, house training, and separation anxiety. Many people use these phrases to describe the rehabilitation process as watching a dog ‘blooming’ or ‘coming out of their shell’. It is a highly rewarding process for you and the dog. We are here to help you support your commitment to your dog. All Harley really begs for is your love. When you meet him we are certain he will work his way into your heart and fill it with love. How do I act when I first meet new people? Harley is an absolute sweetheart. He will amble up to you and ask for pets. He's not fearful of people. There's no other way to describe Harley, the dude is just an absolute sweetheart, a very good boy. Other tips and tidbits: Harley's birth date is 1/5/2018 as estimated by our vet. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
