About this Dog
Date into Rescue: 1/5/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 36 lbs Height: 22 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Lucy requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Lucy was a breeder release and has not been socialized. Everything is a new experience for her. She would do best with an adopter who is a kind, caring individual with an abundance of patience. Lucy needs to be taught how to walk on a leash as well as all the basic commands. An adopter who is patient but can prod her to learn would be her ideal new mom or dad. Your home will be Lucy's first home. A consistent routine each day will see Lucy blossom into the wonderful girl we know she can be. She requires another large, confident dog in the home to learn from. What is my personality like? Lucy is timid and nervous here at CPR. However, you can tell she longs for your loving touch by how excited she gets when you approach, from behind a fence. When you go inside the fence she backs off. As Billy Joel sang, it's just A Matter of Trust. Once she is adopted into a loving home we have no doubt that trust will grow quickly and Lucy will soon become a life-long loving member of your family. Carolina Poodle Rescue is pleased to work with breeders who are eager to have their dogs find a home. When our site mentions breeder release, we want adopters and supporters to know that this dog will require extra care transitioning into your home. Please know this is a rehabilitation process for the dog. It is a commitment to showing the dog how to be social, building trust, house training, and separation anxiety. Many people use these phrases to describe the rehabilitation process as watching a dog ‘blooming’ or ‘coming out of their shell’. It is a highly rewarding process for you and the dog. We are here to help you support your commitment to your dog. How do I act when I first meet new people? Lucy is skittish but curious and she's learning to trust people. Lucy has com a long way in trusting her caregivers, but she needs someone to take her to the next level. We have no doubt that this big, beautiful red-haired girl can grow into a loving lifelong companion with the right adopter. Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Lucy was born on or about 8/5/2020. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
