About this Dog
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 8 Months (as of 4/11/24) Weight: 48 lbs (as of 4/15/24) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Margo! Looking for a loyal, affectionate, and eager-to-please addition to your family? Look no further! Margo DM is here! Margo is house- and crate-trained, and rides well in the car. She loves playtime and toys (chew, squeak, you name it) but is also happy to chill after she has had a good romp in the yard. She enjoys playing chase, wrestling and bitey-face with other dogs her size and larger who are confident, robust and friendly, and can also be playful with her humans. Once her tank is drained, Margo loves a great cuddle on the sofa and nap in the sun; she is used to napping the day away at her caregiver's feet while they work from home. Margo enjoys and is a ffectionate towards humans; she is most familiar with adult females but is quickly learning that we come in all different shapes and sizes, and those are great, too! Margo's Backstory: Margo was adopted out as a young puppy and while she was well-loved in her previous home, she did not have many experiences outside the home. She is building her confidence every day, but can be nervous in new situations so we are going slow with her. She is looking for a home that will continue to expose her to new positive situations at her speed. We strongly recommend that all of our puppies attend obedience training to learn commands, develop confidence, and socialize with other dogs and situations, and Margo is no exception. We expect that she will excel in group classes and would likely also enjoy regular playdates with a few other dogs. Think Margo could be your missing piece? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family! Medical Note: A littermate of Margo was treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition, in October 2023 . As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated but has never shown any bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange, and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
