About this Cat

5 yrs and 22lbs. My 5 year old (ish) cat Dexter is in desperate need of a new (single cat) home ASAP as my other cat's life is now in danger. This is not the first time I've posted about rehoming him. He is not a bad boi as a whole, loves cuddles, loves to play, and is super affectionate, but for YEARS we've been struggling to get him to get along with our other female cat. Things have deteriorated so severely that our girl cat Stella is now underweight and refusing to come out of hiding except to eat and only when we guard her to make her feel safe. She's basically confined herself to 1 room of the house, and Dexter is litter box and food guarding which is preventing her from having the basics of a comfortable life in our home. There's never been any severe aggression or fighting between them, but he makes a very BOLD point to keep her miserable by not allowing her to eat, pee, or even get cuddles without chasing her away immediately. It's more territorial than aggressive in nature. Most recently today, we found she'd peed in our laundry AND all in her kennel that we give her for a safe space because he would not let her go to the bathroom. He guards the hallways and doorways to make SURE she can't get there. Stella used to be super social, lovey, and cuddling with us all the time, and now she hides so much it's like she's not even here. That is not at all fair (or healthy) for her. It did not start out this way but has progressed over the years to the point where we're afraid we're gonna lose Stella if we don't rehome him. We have tried ALL THE THINGS. No we cannot get more litter boxes or food stations for 2 reasons: 1. Dexter is now severely overweight from stealing her food because we already have 2 food stations and 2. we live in a super small apartment and there is no room for a 3rd litter box. We have tried more toys/play, we have tried sprays and catnip and everything we (and jackson galaxy) can think of. It is time for him to move on to a new home so that our girl cat can feel safe and loved again. At this time, please refrain from suggestions to get them to get along. We've tried it all. We're just looking for an option to get him rehomed as soon as possible. And yes I know it's kitten season but I don't want to have to just drop him at a shelter and hope for the best either. He deserves a great home. He is fixed, up to date on shots (just got them last year) and has been vetted (Camden Animal Clinic in Canton). He does have a history of urine crystals (one severe occasion that required surgery, but no others) but does fine on Blue Wilderness Chicken Flavor cat food (blue bag) NO expensive prescription food required. He's well trained for the litterbox. I know he's a great cat and it's breaking my heart to put this post up, but I have to think about what's best for my cattos as a whole.

Adopt Dexter and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Dexter's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. How will Dexter receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Dexter, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Dexter's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Dexter was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Dexter’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Dexter’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Dexter’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
