About this Dog

VENUS' STORY I got Venus when she was a puppy and I was 21 years old. At the time I thought owning a great dog like her would help me to make holistic changes to my life. She did and I will always be grateful to her for doing so. However my life outside of Venus has become complex and I've had to make the toughest decision of my life to find her a true forever home. I have developed a knee injury and am currently dealing with a lower back injury. Due to these I can no longer run Venus or take her on the long walks and hikes we used to enjoy. I simply cannot keep up with her as my knee wont allow for it. In addition to this, my younger brothers health has declined and I have to step into a caregiver/guardian role as we have no other family to help. Lastly I was recently laid off from my day job and have been freelancing ever since. With my line of work constantly demanding my time at odd and inconsistent hours. With all of these life and health changes occurring at once It became clear that Venus was getting the short end of the stick. I can no longer offer her a stable routine and on top of that, if she were to have just one injury at this time, I would not be able to afford to take care of her and that kills me. She deserves a home that can take her to the vet without worrying if they're going to make rent that month because of it. I dont want another dog, just for Venus to have the care she deserves. ABOUT VENUS 4 years old Bright Brown Eyes Birthmark on tongue Sable Working Class AKC Registered (with lineage grand-parents, parents, siblings) Medium Build, 65 - 70 lb Favorite snacks: Apples, Carrots, Peanut Butter, Ice, Anything you're willing to give her under the table She is high energy and highly intelligent. She weighs 65-70 lb and enjoys an active lifestyle. She is very trainable and gives incredible eye contact, something everyone she meets compliments her on. She understands boundaries and can be taught things very quickly. She loves to be challenged and rewarded. Shes lost a couple of teeth in the past trying to lift large branches but by switching to chewy toys hasn't lost one since. She always wants to be with her humans over other dogs and can play fetch till she dies. Venus is friendly with cats and rats and kids. If Venus had the opportunity I am sure she would excel at agility training and personal protection training as its in her bloodline. I simply cant afford to give her access to those things/time. BEHAVIOR NOTES She has NEVER bitten or attacked another dog but does bark at them. She has higher reactivity on leash but does much better off leash. Prefers humans over dogs. Has been this way since she was a puppy. Doesn't bark for attention or at humans. Will do the German Shepherd Squeaks. IDEAL NEW HOME Single dog home - she likes to be the only dog in town. Active lifestyle - Venus and I are an energy mismatch. She would do well with someone who wants to adventure or runs frequently or has a desire to own a dog that could excel in agility, personal protection training or travel life. Belly Rubs - Venus is so sweet she needs belly rubs all the time. Thank you for reading. God Bless.

Adopt Venus and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Venus's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Venus receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Venus, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Venus's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Venus was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Venus’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Venus’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Venus’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
