About this Dog

Ulster County NY! This handsome fellow showed up on my doorstep one night back in April. Weve tried to find his owners but have been unable to. It seems he’s had at least 3 owners as there have been 3 different owners listed on his microchip. The last contact on the chip was supposedly vague about him. His original name, according to the chip, is “duck” and he may have initially been trained to bird dog as we’ve noticed some bird behavior with him. However he seems only slightly familiar with this name. He’s been trained very well. He Knows the sits and paws and comes and go lay down. He knows heel when on a leash as well. He may have been trained off the leash. He’s not had any accidents in the house and will tell you when he has to go by coming up to you and not leaving. When he really has to go he will whine. He’s been very good with our other puppy who is a 5 month old Maltese. He’s put up with a huge amount of puppy abuse from our other guy and has been fine. He’s also allowed his food to be shared and his bones and toys to be stolen by our other pup without any negative behavior. He did get protective of a raw hide towards me when I tried to take it from him but has been much better now that his trust has grown. He seems to be the beta when interacting with other dogs. He’s been around kids and numerous other people and always just wants to be pet and loved. He can be a bit anxious at times and doesn’t like hard rain, thunder and lightening. He seems to want a crate that he can hang in as he’s gone in our little dogs crate quite a few times when scared. (Hes made it his default now and will go there when he can) He also doesn’t like his paws touched much and will mouth you if he doesn’t like it but doesn’t bite. He tends to corner himself when scared and at these times responds much better to kind soft commands than hard spoken commands. So all in all he’s a great dog. He’s about 3-4 and seems to be in good health. Hes had rabies vax and been tested for heart work etc and come back clean! He’s incredibly well adjusted for all of the different owners he’s likely had and my hopes are that this is the last time he is rehomed.

Adopt Duck and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Duck's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Duck receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Duck, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Duck's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Duck was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Duck’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Duck’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Duck’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
