About this Dog

Baxter had become my best friend over the past couple of years after I adopted him from the shelter in 2019. He lived with me downtown and with me throughout some of the most difficult times I’ve had. After I got pregnant, I had hoped that he could be the same kind of friend to my baby. Unfortunately, he does not do well with children. He had gotten so used to being the “king” when it was just me and him that it has been hard for him to adjust to being in a home with my baby, and my parents. I truly believe that once my son and I are in our own place, Baxter would do just fine. I think having so many dogs and people and kids around has been hard on him and he gets anxious. He really is a sweet dog. He would do best in a home with no little kids. I always joked that he’s the perfect dog for someone living a bachelor life or a frat boy. With that being said, I would prefer for him to go to a home of a single person, or a couple. Where he can be the baby. Baxter is crate trained, as well as potty trained. He does well with other dogs— he loves the dog park and definitely needs to be active. I would hate to take him back to the shelter— I adopted him at 9 months old. He had been found as a stray, and I was the third person to adopt him… he doesn’t deserve to be back in the shelter. I love this dog, and I want to know he will be loved and cared for. Please message me with any questions— and reach out if you or someone you know could be the home that Baxter needs.

Adopt Baxter and Receive Dogecoin

Adopting a pet can be expensive, and we're trying to help by fundraising for each individual in need of adoption. After verifying the adoption, Baxter's new family will receive the funds that their pet has raised. Dogecoin is digital currency that can be exchanged for cash, traded, or held as an investment (see the "What is Dogecoin" section below).

How will Baxter receive the Dogecoin?

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. If you adopted the Baxter, thank you for providing a home and a loving family! Please begin the process of claiming Baxter's Dogecoin here.

For adoptions in which nokillnetwork.org was the matchmaker and we have contact information for both parties, we make every effort to contact the adopting family. For adoptions that were not facilitated by nokillnetwork.org, we still encourage the adopting family to claim the Dogecoin by submitting the necessary information.

The adopting family is the only party eligible to receive the Dogecoin. The adopting family will be required to provide proof of adoption between 4-6 weeks after adoption. This is to ensure that the home is a good match and Baxter was not returned. After we have verified the adoption, Baxter’s Dogecoin balance will be sent to the adopting family. Our staff provides instructions and help throughout this process.

What happens to unclaimed funds?

We want the Baxter’s balance to go to the adopting family as a way to say thank you for providing a loving home and to help with pet care expenses. In the unfortunate event we cannot contact them and verify the adoption, Baxter’s balance will remain in our general Dogecoin fund. This fund may be used to match contributions made to other adoptable pets, incentify other adoption-related actions, promote our mission, or support the operating expenses of nokillnetwork.org. If you would like to make a direct contribution to nokillnetwork.org to help us help other pets in need, you can go here. We appreciate your generosity and help!
